In Memoriam
We have received the strong sad news that our beloved Paul Geladi passed away on Saturday May 18, 2024 in Umeå, Sweden, at the age of 72.
Paul Geladi (born Belgium 1951) was Emeritus Professor in Chemometrics and still active in research projects dealing with Chemometrics, Vibrational Spectroscopy and Spectroscopic Imaging. He has a PhD in Analytical Chemistry from Antwerp University 1979. He has been teaching Experimental Design, Multivariate Data Analysis, Multivariate Calibration and Hyperspectral Imaging for a few decades. He is coauthor of three scientific books and more than 180 scientific papers. The number of citations is over 25000. He has been active in research in Seattle (WA) and Potsdam (NY), USA, Vasa, Finland, Stellenbosch, South Africa and Ås, Norway.
The IASIM scientific committee had planned several acts to honour his career and his wonderful attitude and person on Sunday 7th of July, before the cocktail hour. Now, with a stronger reason, we will honour him, his way of seeing life and his eagerness to always have great and fantastic discussions.
The registration is closed. If you have any questions or further information write to José Manuel Amigo (Questo indirizzo email è protetto dagli spambots. E' necessario abilitare JavaScript per vederlo.).
IASIM-2024, the ninth international conference in spectral imaging, took place in July 2024 in Bilbao, Spain.
The biannual IASIM conference is intended to provide a unified, open, cross-disciplinary and interactive forum for the exchange of information and ideas within the general spectral imaging community, regardless of the spectral or spatial range.
This conference brought together speakers, contributors, attendees and exhibitors from a large variety of Scientific Communities (Food processing, pharmaceuticals, forensics, art, remote sensing, etc.) using a large variety of spectral imaging (microscopic, macroscopic or remote sensing) coupled to spectroscopic techniques (UV, visible, NIR, Mid-IR, Raman, etc). It included three days of scientific sessions, with oral and poster presentations on spectral imaging research and applications. Pre-conference activities with several courses and workshops were also planned.
Technical sessions included keynote presentations by invited speakers, contributed presentations, panel discussions from members of the imaging community, posters and exhibitors, promoting cross-talks and new ideas.
Presenters of mature works were be encouraged to submit their manuscripts for publication in the special issue of Spectrochimica Acta: Molecular and Biomolecular Spectroscopy (IF: 4.4), subject to the normal peer review process. All details were available on the conference website.
During the conference, an independent scientific panel evaluated the poster and oral communications of junior participants. The Best Oral Communication Award was kindly supported by Eigenvector Research Inc. (one year licence for SOLO+MIA + some little surprises). The Awards was given on the last day of the conference.
